home is one of the most stressful processes you will ever have to go through,
which is why it’s important to have helpful plans in place to help your move go
smoothly. In this blog we go over some of the top moving tips!
One of the best tips to follow is to label your boxes as you pack them. This way you will always know what each box contains, this is helpful for both during the move and after the move. Another strategy you should follow is to not only list the type if items in the box but which room they belong in. This will help you sort out each room much quicker.
Pack an Essentials Bag
The first night in your new home won’t be glamorous, it’s most likely that you won’t even have a bed to sleep in. That’s why packing an essentials bag is a great idea! Your belongings won't all arrive at once to make sure you have everything you need for the first night, such as toothbrush, new clothes, hygiene products and something to pass the time. This saves you hauling through boxes looking for essentials.
Take Important Photographs
When you have been living somewhere for a while, it can be easy to forget how things were set up. That’s why it will save you time and hassle to take photos of items that require putting together or plugging in. Take a snap of the back of your tv making sure to show where each wire goes, the same applies for any other complicated electronics such as computers. If you have some furniture that you had to dismantle for the move it might be a good idea to take photos of your progress, so you know which part belongs where when it comes to putting it back together again.
Pack Items Securely
There’s nothing worse than opening one of your moving boxes to find broken items. During the moving process, things move around more than you think so it’s important to make sure you are packing items securely. For liquid items such as body lotions or moisturisers, put cling film over the top of the bottle then close the lid. This prevents any leaks which could cause damage to other items. For more important items such as jewellery, pack them individually in soft materials such as cotton wool and then place them in small bags to prevent them moving around too much. If there is anything so precious that you can simply not see go into storage during the move, take it with you! There is no stopping you taking an extra bag with you containing important items.
